The stages of rehabilitation for drug addicts:

1. Phase medical rehabilitation (detoxification), this stage addict checked throughout both physical and mental health by a trained physician. Doctor is deciding whether addicts should be given certain drugs to reduce withdrawal symptoms (sakau) he suffered. Administration of drugs depending on the type of drug and ringanya severe withdrawal symptoms. In this case the doctor takes sensitivity, experience, and expertise to memdeteksi the symptoms of drug addiction.

2. Phase rehabilitation nonmedical this stage addict participating in a rehabilitation program. Indonesia is already built in places of rehabilitation, for example under BNN is a rehabilitation center in the Lido area (Campus Unitra), Baddoka (Makassar), and Samarinda. In place of this rehabilitation, addicts undergoing various programs such as therapeutic communities program (TC), 12 steps (twelve steps, the religious approach, and others.

3. Phase ongoing formation (after care), this stage addict given activities in accordance with the interests and talents to fill out daily activities, addicts can return to school or work but remains under surveillance.
For each stage of rehabilitation required monitoring and evaluation continuously to process the recovered addict.
In the handling of drug addicts, in Indonesia there are several methods of treatment and rehabilitation that are used are:

1. Cold turkey; means an addict immediately stop the use of drugs / addictive substances. This method is the oldest method, by confining addicts during withdrawal without giving medicine. After the withdrawal symptoms disappear, the addict is issued and included in the counseling session (non-medical rehabilitation). This method bnayak used by some rehab with a religious approach in detoxification phase.

3. Substitution therapy opioda; only used for heroin-dependent patients (opioda). For the hard core addict opioda (opioda users who have been using it for years opioda injection), the addict usually experience chronic relapse so to repeatedly undergo drug treatment. Needs heroin (an illegal drug) substituted (substitution) with legal narcotics. Some of the drugs commonly used are codeine, bufrenorphin, metadone, and nalrekson. These drugs are used as a drug detoxification, and given in doses that correspond to the needs of addicts, then gradually the dosage is reduced.

4. Therapeutic Community (TC); These methods began to be used at the end of 1950 in the United States. The ultimate goal is to help addicts to be able to return to society and be able to re-live a productive life. TC program, a program called Drug Free Self Help Program. This program has nine elements, namely active participation, feedback from the membership, role modeling, collective format for personal change, sharing norms and values, structures and systems, open communication, group relations and the use of unique terminology. Activities in the TC will help participants learn to know him through the five areas of personality development, the management of behavioral, emotional / psychological, intellectual and spiritual, vocasional and education, skills to stay clean from drugs.

5. The method of 12 steps; in the United States, if someone caught drunk or abusing drugs, the court will give punishment to follow the 12-step program. Addicts who follow this program is motivated to implement the 12 steps is in our daily lives.
